The Scientific Council of the GTU Institute of Mathematics Announces a Competition for Scientific Positions


The Scientific Council of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition to fill the following scientific positions:

  • Academician Shalva Mikeladze’s Computing Center

Senior Research Fellow – 0.5 staff unit

  • Department of Mathematical Modeling

Research Fellow – 0.5 staff unit

  • Department of Artificial Intelligence

Research Fellow – 0.5 staff unit

The competition will be conducted by the Competition Commission on August 12, 2026. The preliminary results will be published no later than August 12, 2026, in a visible location at the Institute and on the Institute’s website: https://micm.edu.ge/

Applications and complaints regarding violations of the competition procedures will be accepted by the Competition Commission through August 17, 2026, inclusive.

  1. Competition conditions

General Requirements

  • The position of Senior Research Fellow may be held by a person who holds a doctorate or equivalent academic degree, must have at least six years of scientific research experience (including research activities in higher education or other specialized institutions, as well as published scientific works), and have scientific publications published or accepted for publication within the last five years, including at least one publication in a Web of Science impact-factor journal and at least three additional publications in Scopus-indexed journals.
  • A person who has a master’s degree or an equivalent academic degree can hold the position of a Research Fellow, must have scientific publications published or accepted for publication within the last five years, including at least two publications in Scopus-indexed journals. This publication requirement does not apply to candidates participating in a Research Fellow competition for the first time.

Appointments to both Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow positions are made for a five-year term.

The person wishing to participate in the competition must personally (or through a representative) submit:

  1. a) A duly completed and signed application and candidate questionnaire (forms will be available on the Institute’s website), together with supporting documentation confirming the information provided (diplomas, certificates, references, deeds, etc.) originals and copies;
  2. b) A document confirming the applicant’s scientific or academic degree, original and copy;
  3. c) Documents confirming scientific research experience, certified with the official seal of the relevant organization or institution;
  4. d) A list of scientific and educational-methodological publications, certified by the signature and seal of the authorized representative of the relevant institution or its structural unit. Publications in Web of Science impact-factor journals should be marked “IF”, while publications in Scopus-indexed journals should be marked “SJR”;
  5. e) ID card — original and photocopy;
  6. f) Two photos (3 × 4 cm);
  7. g) A certificate of conviction confirming the absence of convictions for crimes against sexual freedom and inviolability, and a certificate of deprivation of rights.

Note: Applicants who have already submitted the above-mentioned certificates to the University’s Human Resources Management and Records Service are exempt from resubmitting them.

III. Competition Rules

The competition will be conducted in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education, the Charter of the Georgian Technical University, and the Regulations on the Recruitment of Scientific Personnel of the Niko Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics. Candidates may review these regulations at the Competition Commission or on the University and the Institute’s websites.

The Competition Commission will consider: the candidate’s qualifications and suitability for the advertised position; scientific research, practical, and other professional activities relevant to the position; academic achievements, qualifications, professional experience, and merits; and the results of an interview conducted by the Competition Commission.

The results of the competition may be appealed in court in accordance with the legislation of Georgia.
