GTU Students Complete Professional Internships in Germany with the Support of Professor Klaus Hipp
From 21 September to 21 October, within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Georgian Technical University and the German company HiPP, two students completed professional internships in Germany with the support of Professor Klaus Hipp, a renowned German entrepreneur and philanthropist and an Honorary Doctor of GTU.
The students undertaking professional internships in Scheyern, Germany, were Mariam Sulaberidze, a student at the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design of Georgian Technical University, and Elisabeth Gunthishvili, a graduate of the International School of Design.
The internship was supervised by Nino Akhobadze, Deputy Head of the Office of Technology and Grant Projects at Georgian Technical University, who was directly involved in coordinating the students’ professional activities and overseeing the work process.
The internship aimed to develop the students’ professional skills, provide them with international experience, and enable them to realise their creative potential.
As part of the internship, the students participated in developing the interior design and artistic decoration of the conference hall at the historic Benedictine monastery of Scheyern (Kloster Scheyern).
The project was particularly significant because it gave the students the opportunity to work in a cultural heritage setting with a history spanning several centuries, where contemporary design approaches had to be applied with due consideration for the historical environment and architectural heritage.
During the internship, the students worked on the artistic concept for the interior, the aesthetic design of the space, and individual design elements. The experience enabled them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real working environment and gain insight into German professional practices.
The clergy of Scheyern Benedictine Monastery made a significant contribution to the implementation of the project by providing exceptional hospitality, support, and active assistance to the students and their supervisor throughout the work process. The monastery ensured appropriate working conditions and organisational support, which played an important role in the successful completion of the internship.
The Office of Technology and Grant Projects at Georgian Technical University organised and coordinated the students’ professional internships in Germany.
