Presentation of the Book “Diplomatic and Consular Law” at GTU, Held as Part of Georgian Diplomacy Day

The Faculty of Law and International Relations at Georgian Technical University celebrated Georgian Diplomacy Day. As part of the event, the faculty held a presentation on the book “Diplomatic and Consular Law”, authored by Aslan Abashidze and Giorgi Lobzhanidze.

This publication is the first work in the Georgian language to present diplomatic and consular law within a unified educational framework. The book aims to give students specialized knowledge in foreign relations and to support a thorough study of these two interconnected branches of international law.

According to Professor Ivane Giorgadze, Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations at GTU, the book examines the fundamental principles, norms, and institutions of diplomatic and consular law. It also outlines the legal bases for establishing and operating various state bodies, whose activities – along with the general principles of international law are regulated by the norms of diplomatic and consular law.

“The celebration of Georgian Diplomacy Day and the presentation of the book “Diplomatic and Consular Law” constitute an event of particular significance for our faculty. This publication is a valuable addition to Georgian-language academic literature, presenting diplomatic and consular law within a unified educational and scholarly framework. It enables readers to gain an in-depth understanding of the legal foundations of foreign relations, the relevant institutions, and international practice. This work will help students in law and international relations deepen their professional knowledge while also enriching the range of Georgian-language educational resources in this field.

In contemporary international relations, knowledge of diplomatic and consular law is particularly significant. Consequently, the creation of such academic works serves not only to enhance the quality of the educational process but also to foster scientific research in the field and contribute to the professional training of future diplomats and legal specialists.”

– Professor Ivane Giorgadze
