Rector of the Georgian Technical University Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Renowned Scientist, Academician Tamaz Natriashvili
On behalf of the university community, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, expresses deep sorrow over the passing of the prominent scientist, Professor at the Georgian Technical University, Full Member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Raphael Dvali Institute of Machine Mechanics, Academician Tamaz Natriashvili.
“With the passing of Tamaz Natriashvili, the Georgian scientific community has lost an outstanding scientist, researcher, and innovator, whose long-standing scientific and pedagogical career has made a significant contribution to the development of Georgian engineering sciences and technological fields.
His scientific work encompassed the research and improvement of the power, efficiency, and environmental performance of automotive engines; the use of alternative fuels in engines; the development of new technological machinery; the study of dynamic processes in mechanical systems and impact phenomena in solid bodies; the design of robotic systems; and the utilization of non-traditional energy sources.
From 2006, he led and coordinated a priority scientific program titled “Development of Innovative Technologies in Mechanical Engineering and Transport Vehicles”. Within the framework of this program, significant research was conducted on the creation of remotely operated mobile machines, specialized technological machine tools, and the analysis of dynamic processes within mechanical systems.
Tamaz Natriashvili’s scientific legacy is especially significant. He published over 160 scientific works, including 4 monographs and 2 textbooks. He holds 11 inventor’s certificates and a patent. His knowledge, experience, scientific achievements, and innovative vision represent a valuable contribution to Georgian science.
The name and contributions of Tamaz Natriashvili will always remain part of the history of the Georgian Technical University and the Georgian scientific community.
The Georgian Technical University extends its deepest sympathies to the family, loved ones, colleagues, and students of the deceased, and shares in their grief over this profound loss.
Despite the inconsolable pain caused by the loss of his child, he continued his life and professional endeavors with dignity and dedication. Now, with his passing, his family, friends, and the entire Georgian scientific community have suffered yet another heavy loss.
We offer our condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire scientific community.”
