GTU Delegation Participates in International Conference and Student Competition in Turkmenistan
Scientists and students from Georgian Technical University participated in the international scientific-practical conference, “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan: Cooperation for Peace, Security, and Sustainable Development,” as well as the Third International Student Competition, “International Relations: Culture of Peaceful Dialogue.”
The event brought together representatives of universities from more than 40 countries across the United States, Europe, and Central Asia. The delegation from Georgian Technical University was headed by Professor Badri Nachkebia. The delegation also included affiliated Assistant Vakhtang Muradashvili from the Faculty of Law and International Relations, along with students of the same faculty, Lasha Meskhi and Nika Nadaraia.
According to Vakhtang Muradashvili, students representing delegations from Turkmenistan, Georgia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the People’s Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and the Islamic Republic of Iran participated in the international competition. He noted that the competition provided young people from different countries with an opportunity to present their perspectives on contemporary international relations, peace, diplomacy, and global cooperation
“The competition was not merely an academic contest — it also served as an important platform for intercultural dialogue and international youth cooperation. Events of this kind help strengthen the values of global responsibility, a culture of peace, and international partnership among students. It is especially important that the students of the Georgian Technical University represented both their academic abilities and Georgia’s educational potential with dignity before an international audience.”

According to Professor Badri Nachkebia of the Faculty of Law and International Relations, the jury evaluated participants based on theoretical knowledge as well as analytical and practical skills. He noted that the students of the GTU Faculty of Law and International Relations achieved significant success in the competition: Lasha Meskhi won first place, while Nika Nadaraia secured third place. In addition to participating in the conference, members of the GTU delegation conducted workshops, master classes, and demonstration lectures for students at various higher educational institutions in the host country.
According to the Chairman of the GTU Supervisory Board, Professor Zurab Gudavadze, the university delegation once again represented both the first Georgian higher engineering school and the country with distinction in the international scientific arena. He emphasized that the students’ achievements in the international competition were particularly noteworthy and reflected the talents of the students, the professionalism of their professors, and their joint efforts.
“The successful participation of the Georgian Technical University representatives in the international scientific and academic arena, and especially the victory of our students in the international competition, once again confirms that the university has created an environment where young people receive not only a high-quality education, but also a deep understanding of modern global processes, academic discourse, and international cooperation skills. Today, when the world faces significant challenges, it is especially important for the university to fulfill its historical mission — to serve as a center of knowledge, dialogue, peace, and development.
In this context, the main themes of the conference – peace, security, sustainable development, and international cooperation – acquire particular significance. We are pleased that our scientists and students are active participants and successful representatives of this global academic discourse. We are especially proud of our students’ victory in the international competition, because it represents not only an individual achievement, but also international recognition of the intellectual potential of Georgian higher education and the university itself. This result demonstrates that our youth possess the knowledge, analytical thinking, and values necessary to compete with representatives of the world’s leading universities and to represent Georgia with dignity on the international stage. With the support of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, the Georgian Technical University will continue to support students and scientists and further develop an educational and research environment that contributes to the formation of a new generation of professionals.”
