Rector of the GTU Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Professor Nino (Neli) Chichinadze
On behalf of the university community, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, expresses his condolences to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies, as well as to the family, on the passing of Professor Nino (Neli) Chichinadze – an outstanding lecturer and a distinguished representative of the technical intelligentsia.
As noted in the Rector’s message, Professor Nino (Neli) Chichinadze was an individual of high professional competence, exceptional pedagogical talent, and great personal integrity. Through her many years of fruitful work, she made a significant contribution to university life and the professional education of the younger generation.
“The passing of Mrs. Neli Chichinadze is a great loss for both the Georgian Technical University and the scientific and academic community as a whole.
The Georgian Technical University extends its deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, colleagues, and students, and pays tribute to the professor’s bright memory.
Mrs. Neli spent the greater part of her life within what she considered her second family – the Department of Organic Substances Technology at the Georgian Technical University, leaving behind an indelible mark and a legacy of profound love. To her students and colleagues, she was synonymous with exceptional warmth, fairness, unwavering support, and great-heartedness. Today, the generations she nurtured thrive in scientific laboratories, universities, and leading industrial enterprises; in each, her knowledge and human kindness live on.
Neli Chichinadze made a significant contribution to establishing and developing the university’s scientific and academic traditions. Her scholarly work encompassed research of great practical value, including the development of an optimized and comprehensive technology for tannin production, the creation of bulletproof and waterproof materials for durable military-grade vests, and various other scientific and technological endeavors. These achievements represent an important part of Georgian technical science and hold a well-deserved place in its history. Yet, in the memories of her students and colleagues, she will remain, above all, an exceptional educator and a person of the highest integrity.
We express our deep sorrow and offer our condolences to the family, loved ones, colleagues, and the entire academic community.
May her memory be bright and eternal!”
– Academician David Gurgenidze
