The Scientific Council of the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management Announces an Open Competition
The Scientific Council of the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management of the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the following scientific positions:
Innovative Development Group:
- Chief Scientific Employee – 1.0 staff unit;
- Chief Scientific Employee – 1.0 staff unit;
- Senior Scientific Employee – 1.0 staff unit;
- Senior Scientific Employee – 0.5 staff unit.
Department of Natural Hazards and Environmental Protection:
- Chief Scientific Employee – 0.5 staff unit;
- Scientific Employee – 1.0 staff unit.
Department of Seas and Water Reservoirs:
- Chief Scientific Employee – 1.0 staff unit;
- Scientific Employee – 0.5 staff unit.
Department of Irrigation and Drainage:
- Chief Scientific Employee – 1.0 staff unit;
- Scientific Employee – 0.5 staff unit.
Samgori Experimental Ecological Station:
- Station Manager/Scientist – 1.0 staff unit.
Gori Experimental Ecological Station:
- Station Manager/Senior Researcher – 0.5 staff unit.
Kolkheti Black Sea Research Ecological Station:
- Station Manager/Senior Researcher – 1.0 staff unit.
Applications will be accepted from October 8th to October 12th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m., at the following address: Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management, 2nd floor, 1st Educational Building, Georgian Technical University, Tbilisi. The Scientific Council of the Institute will conduct interviews and voting with candidates for the vacant position of head of a scientific structural unit (section head) on October 15th, 2026. The Scientific Council will announce the voting results immediately after the voting is completed on October 15 and post them in a prominent place at the Institute and on the Institute’s website.
The Competition Commission will conduct the competition for vacant scientific positions (Chief Scientific Employee, Senior Scientific Employee, Scientific Employee) on October 15th, 2026. The results of the competition will be published no later than October 16th, 2026, in a visible place and on the Institute’s website.
Statements and complaints regarding violations of the competition rules will be accepted by the Scientific Council or Competition Commission including October 20th, 2026.
Additional information to participate in the competition, including the contestant’s questionnaire and application, as well as the time and place of the interview, will be published on the Institute’s website.
1. Competition Conditions
Main conditions of the competition:
a) The position of head of a scientific structural unit of the Institute (head of a section) may be held by a person who meets the requirements established for a Chief Scientific Employee or Senior Scientific Employee of this independent scientific research unit.
b) The position of Chief Scientific Employee may be held by a person who holds a doctoral or equivalent academic degree and has at least six years of experience in scientific research activities.
c) The position of Senior Scientific Employee may be held by a person who holds a doctoral or equivalent academic degree.
d) The position of Scientific Employee may be held by a person who holds a master’s or equivalent academic degree.
A person will be elected to the position of scientific personnel (head of a department, Chief Scientific Employee, Senior Scientific Employee, Scientific Employee) for a term of five (5) years.
A person wishing to participate in the competition must personally, or through a representative, submit the following documents:
a) A duly completed and signed application and questionnaire. The forms will be published on the Institute’s website, together with documentation confirming the information provided therein, such as a diploma, certificate, etc. (original and copy);
b) A document confirming the scientific/academic degree (original and copy);
c) A document confirming scientific research experience, certified by the seal of the relevant organization/institution;
d) A list of scientific and educational-methodological works, certified by the signature and seal of the competent person of the relevant institution/organization or its structural unit, if applicable;
e) Identity card (original and photocopy);
f) Two 3×4 photographs;
g) A certificate of conviction for committing a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability, and a certificate of deprivation of rights.
Note: A person who has already submitted the above-mentioned documents to the Human Resources Management and Records Service of the University is exempt from submitting them again.
III. Rules for Conducting the Competition
- The competition will be conducted according to the Law of Georgia “On Higher Education,” the University Charter, and the “Rules for Hiring Scientific Personnel of the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management,” with which contestants may familiarize themselves at the Scientific Council/Competition Commission and on the University and the Institute’s websites.
- The Scientific Council/Competition Commission will consider the correspondence of the contestant’s qualifications and competence to the competitive position, including scientific research, practical and other activities, achievements, qualifications, experience, and merits relevant to the profile of the position, as well as, by decision of the Scientific Council/Competition Commission, the results of the interview conducted with the contestant(s).
- The results of the competition may be appealed in court in accordance with the applicable.
