DUGEOR’s final international conference was held in Tbilisi
On September 2, the final international conference of the Erasmus+ CBHE project DUGEOR was held at the Georgian Technical University.
The conference summarized the work done within the project to develop dual higher education in Georgia — from studying European experience and creating a general model of dual higher education, to developing legal and quality assurance frameworks and testing the model in real university and work environments.
The main idea of DUGEOR’s approach is to make the university and the company two interconnected learning environments for the student. In particular, workplace learning should not be just additional practice, but an integrated part of the educational program.
At the conference, the Georgian Technical University, GIPA, BNU, Telavi State University, and Batumi State Maritime Academy, along with their partner companies and organizations, presented their institutional models and pilot experiences.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Center for Educational Quality Development, partner universities, the private sector, and international partners. Students participating in the DUGEOR pilot process also shared their experiences.
In the final part of the conference, participants discussed the main question of how the pilot experience gained within the framework of DUGEOR can be transformed into a sustainable system of dual higher education in Georgia.
The completion of DUGEOR is not the final part of this process; the next step will be to further develop and ensure sustainability of the experience and university-industry cooperation models created within the project.
