GTU students completed a professional internship in Germany with the support of Professor Klaus Hipp

From September 21 and to October 21, two students completed a professional internship in Germany, supported by the renowned German entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Honorary Doctor of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Claus Hipp, within the framework of a cooperation memorandum signed between the GTU and the German company HiPP.

Mariam Sulaberidze, a student from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design at the Georgian Technical University, and Elisabed Guntishvili, a graduate of the International Design School, undertook a professional internship in the town of Scheyern, Germany.

The internship was supervised by Nino Akhobadze, Deputy Head of the Office of Technologies and Grant Projects at the Georgian Technical University, who was directly involved in coordinating the students’ professional activities and managing the work process.

The internship aimed to develop the students’ professional skills, provide them with international experience, and enable them to realize their creative potential.

As part of their internship, students were involved in the interior design and artistic decoration of a conference hall at the historic Benedictine monastery (Kloster Scheyern).

The project was unique in that it offered students the opportunity to work within a cultural heritage site with a history spanning many centuries, a setting where modern design approaches had to be applied with careful consideration for the historical environment and architectural legacy.

During their internship, the students worked on the artistic concept for the interior, the aesthetic resolution of the space, and individual design elements. This experience enabled them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world professional environment and gain insight into German professional practice.

The clergy of the Shayern Benedictine Monastery made a significant contribution to the implementation of the project, who provided special hospitality, support and active assistance in the work process to the students and the head of practice. The monastery provided appropriate working conditions and organizational support, which played an important role in the successful implementation of the practice.

The organization and coordination of professional internships for students in Germany were facilitated by the Technology and Grant Projects Office of the Georgian Technical University.
