“Skills, Tools, and Teaching Excellence” – Cybersecurity Masterclass at GTU
A 3-day intensive cybersecurity masterclass, “Skills, Tools, and Teaching Excellence,” was held at the Georgian Technical University for the academic staff of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems.
The cybersecurity masterclass, held within the framework of the CIF grant project “CyberShield: Innovative ICT Education for a Secure Future”, was led by Baris Celiktas, a recognized professional in the field and Professor at Işık University, Istanbul (Turkey).
The masterclass topics were fully tailored to the modern requirements of education and research in cybersecurity and aimed to strengthen both pedagogical and technical components.
The three-day master class was attended by professors and teachers from the academic departments of Software and Computer Engineering, Information Technologies and Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics and Computational Mathematics, Control Systems and Automation, Interdisciplinary Informatics, Engineering Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Digital Telecommunications Technologies, Microprocessor and Measurement Systems of the Georgian Technical University.

According to Professor Taliko Zhvania, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems at GTU, the teaching-learning process of cybersecurity today requires special responsibility; therefore, an intensive master class conducted by a recognized professional and researcher in the field of cybersecurity is of essential importance for the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems at GTU.
“The interactive format of the Cybersecurity Masterclass, practical examples, and sharing of international experience provide our academic staff with the opportunity to further develop their pedagogical and technical competencies. It is noteworthy that all three days of the masterclass were distinguished by dynamics and active engagement – professors and teachers from the academic departments of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems participated in discussions, discussed real cases, and formed common visions and approaches to the educational process. It should also be noted that we also shared our latest experience with our Turkish colleague, which will become a solid foundation for future academic cooperation in the field of cybersecurity. I am sure that new knowledge and skills will have a positive impact on the learning process and the improvement of the practice-oriented environment for students,” noted Taliko Zhvania.
