GTU Rector Awarded University Gold Medals and Honorary Diplomas to Eleven Professors
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, based on the GTU Academic Council decision, awarded GTU gold medals and honorary diplomas to professors and scientists of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems.
For their exceptional contribution to the university, professors Merab Akhobadze and Gia Surguladze were awarded GTU gold medals, while professors Revaz Kakubava, Zurab Bosikashvili, Shota Zazashvili, Omar Shamanadze, Nodar Abelashvili, Besarion Shanshiashvili, Mzia Tsirekidze, Manana Chikhradze and Simon Khoshtaria were awarded GTU honorary diplomas at the Academic Council meeting.
As Academician David Gurgenidze noted in his speech, the professors have been serving the university with special responsibility and professionalism for many years. According to him, these people have raised many worthy generations and made significant contributions to the academic and scientific success of Georgian Technical University.
“The reality is that informatics is one of the main driving forces in the development of the economy, education, industry and state management. It is the knowledge and innovations created in this field that determine the competitiveness, technological sovereignty and the country’s future development.
The contribution of our university professors to this process is exceptional. They create knowledge, develop scientific schools, teach students modern technological thinking, and enable them to be competitive both in Georgia and internationally. I sincerely thank each of them for their hard work, dedication, and invaluable contributions to strengthening the university’s reputation.

For information: The award “Gold Medal”, established by the Academic Council decision of the Georgian Technical University, will be awarded to Georgian and foreign scientists for their outstanding contribution to the university. The award and corresponding certificate will be presented to the recipient by the Rector of the Georgian Technical University in a ceremonial manner.
