GTU Rector Expresses Condolences to the family and colleagues over the death of Professor Guram Kashakashvili

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, expresses his deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Guram Kashakashvili, University Emeritus, distinguished scientist, educator, and public figure, and extends his heartfelt condolences to the Kashakashvili family, colleagues, and students.

“The passing of Guram Kashakashvili is a profound loss for both the Georgian Technical University and the Georgian scientific and engineering community. He dedicated many years of his scientific, academic, and public service to the development of our country, the advancement of engineering education, and the progress of the metallurgical field.

He was one of the distinguished professors and emeritus members of the Georgian Technical University, a member of the Parliament of Georgia of the fourth convocation, and the author of more than 140 scientific publications and 65 inventions. Throughout his distinguished career, he received numerous prestigious state awards and professional recognition. However, his greatest legacy lies in the knowledge, experience, and human values he passed on to his students, colleagues, and future generations.

Professor Guram Kashakashvili’s achievements were recognized with numerous prestigious state awards. He was a laureate of the Georgian State Prize in Science and Technology, an Honored Engineer of Georgia, an Honored Inventor, a recipient of the Order of Honor, and the holder of the Honorary Certificate of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Georgia. These distinctions testify to his exceptional professionalism, outstanding scientific achievements, and invaluable contribution to the country’s development.

For the Georgian Technical University, Professor Guram Kashakashvili was not only an outstanding scientist and educator but also a model of professional integrity, principled leadership, and civic responsibility. His name will forever hold a distinguished place in the history of the University, and his scientific legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
