Rector Awards Distinguished Professors with GTU Gold Medals
Based on a decision of the Academic Council, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, presented honorary awards to distinguished scientists and educators in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the development of the university, their scientific achievements, and invaluable role in educating and training future generations of specialists and researchers.
GTU Gold Medals were awarded to Professors Merab Dzneladze and Vazha Sadradze of the Departments of Archaeology and Georgian History within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Their contribution has been particularly significant in advancing modern research and developing innovative educational models at the faculty.
In his address, the Rector emphasized that the success of Georgian Technical University is built upon the dedicated efforts of individuals who have spent years creating a high-quality academic environment, advancing research activities, and providing young people with new opportunities for knowledge and professional growth. According to Academician David Gurgenidze, honoring Professors Merab Dzneladze and Vazha Sadradze represents both recognition of their achievements and an inspiration to other members of the university community. He noted that the distinguished archaeologists have played an important role in strengthening the Faculty of Social Sciences, introducing modern educational programs, and expanding cooperation with the international academic and scientific community.
“It is of particular importance for Georgian Technical University to recognize the contributions of those individuals who have devoted years of service to the advancement of education and science. Distinguished archaeologists Professors Merab Dzneladze and Vazha Sadradze, through their professionalism, academic integrity, and scientific work, have made significant contributions both to the development of science and to the strengthening of the university’s academic environment.
They have played a vital role in the professional and personal development of many generations of students, actively participated in the creation of modern educational programs, and contributed to the enhancement of research activities. It is people like this who establish the strong traditions of a university and help shape its future.

It should be noted that the GTU Gold Medal, established on May 19, 2022, is awarded for exceptional service to Georgian Technical University upon the nomination of the Rector and by decision of the Academic Council. Since its establishment, the award has been presented to more than 70 scientists and researchers, including both Georgian and international recipients.
