GTU Representatives Visit Lviv for the Final Event of the Erasmus+ Project – PROMENT
From January 26 to 29, Giorgi Mikiashvili, Head of the Technology and Grant Projects Office of the Georgian Technical University, and Tea Murvanidze, Head of the International Relations Department, were on a working visit to Lviv Polytechnic National University in Ukraine.
GTU representatives participated in the final events of the Erasmus+ grant project – “Promoting Professional Education and Student Engagement through Mentoring and Tutoring in Higher Education Institutions” (PROMENT), and also attended the meeting of the organizing group and the gala conference planned within the project’s framework.
During the meetings held within the framework of the visit, the participants discussed in detail the results of the mentoring and tutoring system implemented within the project’s framework in Ukrainian and Georgian universities. During the gala conference, the partner parties shared their accumulated experience on the practical implementation of the aforementioned schemes, summarized the achievements of international cooperation, and outlined new perspectives for future development.
The final part of the project was particularly important for the Georgian Technical University, as the participating universities were officially awarded quality certificates, which at the international level confirm the compliance of the implemented activities with European standards.
Within the framework of PROMENT, a Mentoring and Tutoring Center was created and successfully operates at the Technical University, which has developed into a sustainable and systematic institutional mechanism for student support. The Center is integrated within the framework of university management and student-oriented policy, carries out its activities in accordance with approved internal regulations and quality assurance principles, and is based on European best practices.
12 different schemes were introduced at the Center, thematic trainings were conducted, and models supporting both academic and social integration were strengthened, which significantly contributes to the development of a student support, engagement, and professional orientation system.
