GTU Gallery “Universe” Hosts Exhibition Of First-Year Architecture Bachelor Students’ Works

An exhibition of works created by first-year students in the Bachelor of Architecture program at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design has opened at Georgian Technical University.

Hosted by the university’s Gallery “Universe,” the exhibition, titled “Volumetric Spatial Composition,” showcases spatial compositions created by 80 students. Organized as part of the architectural composition course, the exhibition features the best student works selected through an internal faculty competition.

At the opening ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design noted that this annual student exhibition encourages collaboration among future architects, their instructors, and representatives of the construction and development industries.

According to the Dean, spatial composition involves understanding the arrangement of volumes, forms, and spaces, which is the very essence of architecture. Every structure, whether a residential building or a complex urban or landscape project, is ultimately a product of spatial composition.

“The exhibition by first-year students clearly demonstrates the creative potential of young people and their rapid professional growth. Spatial composition is the foundation of architectural thinking, and it is especially important that students develop a harmonious perception of form, volume, and space at the initial stage of their studies. Such exhibitions not only provide students with an opportunity to express their ideas, but also strengthen the dialogue between academia and the professional sphere, which will undoubtedly help future architects overcome urban challenges.”

  – Professor Nugzar Khvedeliani

Professor Khvedeliani thanked the students participating in the exhibition, as well as the organizers—professors of the architectural composition course, including Professor Vanda Mujiri, Associate Professor Manana Khvedeliani, Lia Chigogidze, and Melano Kovziridze, for successfully organizing the event and achieving notable creative results.

The participating students were awarded certificates by Associate Professors – Deputy Dean Tamar Chanturia and Manana Tavkhelidze.

The exhibition of students of the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design – “Volumetric Spatial Composition” at the “University” Gallery will remain open until May 5 of this year. The university exhibition space is open to all visitors.
