Signed Memorandum of Understanding between Georgian Technical University and the National Mineral Resources Agency


Vice-Rector of Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, and Head of the National Mineral Resources Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Abel Abesadze, signed a memorandum of understanding between the university and the agency.

The document envisages deepening educational, scientific, and practical cooperation, which includes the implementation of joint research projects, supporting the professional development of students and young researchers of the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development, as well as developing initiatives to address contemporary challenges in the field.

According to the Vice-Rector, cooperation with the agency will promote the sharing of knowledge and experience in the field of mineral resources, the introduction of innovative approaches, and the training of qualified personnel. It will make a significant contribution to the country’s sustainable development. As Professor Tamar Tsereteli states, the memorandum will become an important mechanism for close and long-term cooperation between the university and the sectoral agency.

“Students will be given the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment, engage in real projects, and better understand modern standards of mineral resource management. Joint research and scientific activities will contribute to a more effective resolution of challenges in the field and the introduction of innovative solutions. This cooperation is also important in terms of the professional development of young staff, as students and researchers will be able to use the Agency’s resources and experience, which will increase their competitiveness in both local and international markets. In addition, the document envisages cooperation in the educational and scientific fields, the implementation of joint projects and programs, as well as the planning and implementation of joint activities. All this will contribute to the training of young qualified personnel and the development of the field.”

Within the framework of the memorandum, students of the Faculty of Mining Geology and Sustainable Mountain Development will undergo practical training and internships at the National Agency for Mineral Resources, thereby developing professional skills, acquiring new experience, and improving their qualifications.
